Reflect on the simile and metaphor worksheet. Which topic challenged you the most when creating your figurative language, and why? In your response, explain what made that topic difficult and how you worked through the challenge

For me none of the topics where particularly hard but next time I might put in a bit more effort. I was absent for baseball but creating figurative language is useful for writing in general.

Today you created similes and metaphors that reflect your struggles, growth, and resilience. In a well-developed paragraph, reflect on the process. What did you learn about yourself while writing your figurative language?

I learned that weather is a good comparison for emotions. Today, we created similes and metaphors, which will help me understand these pieces of figurative language.

Describe how you spent your time, any activities, traditions, travel, hobbies, or moments that stood out to you. You may also discuss something new you tried, something you learned, or how the break helped you reset before returning to school. Keep your response appropriate for a school setting and focus on experiences you are comfortable sharing publicly

Over break, I went on a couple of hikes with my friends, which helped me unwinde esspecially because I had baseball games over break. today we read a poem and identified similes and metaphors from the poem. This will help me understand these forms of figurative language.

If you had to describe how you show love using only three objects (for example: a playlist, a hoodie, a late-night snack, a long text message, etc.), what would you choose and why? Explain what each object represents and how it connects to your personality.

The objects that describe how I show love are a playlist, a movie, and a hoodie. A playlist shows my connection to music and how important it is to my life. Next, the movie is one of my favorite ways to relax, and finally, a hoodie shows my affection for being comfortable. Today we did pretty much nothing in class. This helped me relax.

Now that you have completed the rhetorical analysis essay, reflect on your growth. Explain how this experience impacted your confidence as a writer and whether you feel prepared to continue analyzing complex speeches and texts in American Literature. Support your reflection with specific references to the writing process.

I was not here because of baseball, so I didn't write my essay yet. I am not looking forward to writing it. We lost our game

Today, you learned how to complete a rhetorical analysis planning guide step by step, from identifying the rhetorical situation to analyzing devices and effects. Reflect on one step of the rhetorical analysis process that helped you understand the process more clearly. Explain what you learned during that step and how it improved your ability to analyze a speaker’s message.

Creating the introduction paragraph helped me understand how to make a rhetorical analysis better. Since the intro paragraph is like an outline for your paper in a way, it helped me understand the structure and content of a rhetorical analysis. Today we worked on our rhetorical analysis prep packet, this will prepare me for tomorrow when I write my rhetorical analysis.

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day week, describe your idea of a perfect day spent with someone you care about (a friend, family member, or significant person in your life).

My perfect Valentine's day date would be going out for a nice dinner then go to one of our houses and watch a movie. Today we started the outline for a rhetorical analysis which will set me up for the rest of the paper.

What is the best piece of advice of that your parent or guardian has given you? Tell what the advice was and what prompted you to ask the question.

The best advise me parents gave me was to focus on you. My dad told me this after I got in a fight and it stuck with me, you just have to focus on what you can control. Today we learned about rhetorical devices, this will help for future work on my rhetorical analysis

What is the most challenging part of working in a group? Discuss a time when a group assignment did not go as well as you planned and how you learned from that experience.

My biggest struggle with group work is people not pulling their weight. There was a time last year when I was the only one of four to do work. This taught me to hold people more accountable. Today we did more work to prepare for our rhetorical analysis. This will help me in college when I have to write a rhetorical analysis.

What is the most challenging part of writing an essay for you? Is it brainstorming, organizing ideas, writing a strong thesis, or something else? How do you plan to overcome this challenge?

The hardest part of writing an essay for me is adding depth to my writing. I often find it easy to get ideas out, but harder when I have to add detail and depth to my writing. Today, we wrote a body paragraph for a rhetorical analysis. This will help me when it's time to write a real rhetorical analysis, as I will be more familiar with the writing process.

Describe a real moment in your life that felt like the beginning of a powerful story. Tell what happened, and why it felt like a turning point in your life?

When I first went into high school, I was at a tumultuous point with a lot of family drama. This set up a suspense with the big shift into high school, coupled with the new people, as I was coming from Chamblee Middle.  Today, we took more notes on how to write a rhetorical analysis. This will help in college.
