If you had to write a poem about your life RIGHT NOW, what would it be about? Explain your answer in at least 4 to 5 sentences.

If I had to write a poem about my life right now, I would write about baseball and school work. I would emphasize how boring school is and how much baseball I play. Today we took notes on how to write a rhetorical analysis. This will help me in college.

When you are in a mood that you do not like, what are some strategies that you use to change your mood?

When I'm in a bad mood, I like to spend some time alone and clear my head. Today, Mr. Reese wasnt here, so we threw a rave in his room. After the rave, we did a reading comprehension assignment about why ice is slippery. This will help me strengthen my reading comprehension skills.

Describe your personal approach to creativity. What steps do you follow when you’re working on a project. Tell me about a project you created that you were most proud of.

My personal approach to creativity starts with a brain dump where I put down all the ideas that I have relating to the topic at hand. Next, I move into formulating the actual project and refining as I go until I am satisfied with the outcome. A project that I'm proud of is my science fair project in middle school. I was very interested in my topic, so I was very thorough with my research, experiment, and paper. I ended up going to the state fair for my project and won an award. Today in class, we did a writable assignment where we read a short passage with attached vocab and answered comprehension questions. I was absent at the end of last week, so I made up a quiz. Today's work will help me improve my reading comprehension and vocab which are both important skills going into college.

Write about a time you didn’t feel like yourself.

I didn't feel like myself after pulling an all-nighter. The lack of sleep made my vision blurry, and my body feel heavy. My brain felt like mush, and all I could think about was sleeping.

Describe a place where you feel the most at peace and explain why.

I feel most at peace in my room. This is because it is where I sleep and spend a lot of down time, meaning I am very comfortable being there.

After two weeks of studying rhetorical devices, types of rhetoric, and methods for identifying rhetorical techniques, which rhetorical device do you find most effective or compelling, and why?

After learning about Rhetorical devices, I find Metaphors to be the most effective as they allow you to show a direct correlation and create powerful imagery. I was not here on this day so I cant say what we did in class, but I will say that learning about rhetorical devices is important to shaping the lens you view media in.

Choose a vocabulary word that resonates with you personally. Write a blog post explaining why this word is significant to you, including any personal memories or experiences that link you to the word.

The word gibberish resonates with me personally. I feel like when I'm in high-intensity situations, I can tend to start speaking gibberish. Today in class, Mr. Reese wasn't here, so we did an assignment in a vocabulary book. This assignment might help me on the SAT, where I will have to identify and use different vocab.

Reflect on a time when you had to rely on someone else. How did it feel?

One time I had to rely on someone was when I had oral surgery. While I was recovering, I had to have my parents take care of most things for me, and because of the meds, I couldn't drive anywhere. It was nice to have people waiting on me, but not being self-sufficient made me feel bad. Today in class, we went over 3 more rhetorical devices. These devices will allow me to read media through a clearer lens.

What life skills have you learned in high school that will help you live independently after high school? Which skills do you think are essential for your success after high school?

I have learned skills like studying and time management in high school. This will help me succeed in college and beyond. Time management will be crucial for the remainder of my life as I will have to plan my days out with all my responsibilitys such as work or going to the doctor. Today in class, we learned about different types of rhetoric with a focus on crisis rhetoric. We analyzed a speech by President Trump addressing the public on the border crisis. Analyzing speech and media will allow me to navigate fact and fake news since this skill is critical in this day in age.

Describe a time when you took a hiatus from something important. What led to the break, and how did it impact you?

I took a hiatus from baseball when I got injured. It allowed me to recover from constantly being in the game and allowed me to reaffirm my love for the sport and why I did it. Today in class, we learned more about rhetorical devices and how to use them. This will further my understanding of rhetoric and allow me to recognize it in what I read or hear.

Use a hyperbole, an understatement, and a litotes to describe today's lesson.

This lesson went slower than paint dries. Learning this grammar was a little lame. Doing this work is not boring. In today's lesson, we learned about hyperbole, understatement, and litotes. We took notes on these concepts and made our own examples of each of them. This lesson will help me grasp rhetoric and allow me to find examples of the concepts in things that I read.

In 2–3 well-developed sentences, reflect on how you spent your Holiday Break. Then, identify four personal you would like to achieve this year and briefly explain why each goal is important to you (Copy and paste your completed response from Writable into your blog).

Over Winter Break, I went to Louisiana to visit my grandma and other family. On Christmas Eve, I went to church for the vesper service and then had gumbo at my aunt's house. Then on Christmas Day, I opened presents with my family and spent the rest of the day fishing. My first goal is I hope to save $5000 ,  which will let me have money in case something happens.  To accomplish this goal, I will work hard at my job and save 50% of every paycheck. My second goal is to catch 100 fish.  This goal is important to my mental health because I  didn´t   catch enough last year.  To accomplish this  goal,   I  will fish every weekend that I can and won't give up when the fish  aren't  biting. I will also invest in better gear. My third goal is to get all A's.  This goal will make my parents happy and help me get into  college.  To achieve this  goal,  I will study for tests and be sure I don't have any miss...
